Work To End Water Woes

It has a come a little late. I must have posted this on 22nd March, which was World water day. I rue over missing it. Frankly,I didn't know whether such a day existed. It was the United Nations which declared it, in the year 1991. In fact the decade we live in now is the World's Water Decade. We are surrounded by water and only a  fraction of it can be used. To be precise, only 1.5% of the total amount of water on Earth is fresh water. Water pollution affects we human beings, livestock, crops, plants and trees. There is a disturbing data about water diseases. They kill 1.6 million people every year. Think of pollution of oceans, all the living organisms in the oceans will be affected.

All the sea food we consume will be harmful too.It is our duty to do something to keep water and water resources clean. Water tanks and canals have to be cleaned often. Experts suggest that waste water from industries can be used.It is a common sight in cities, small towns and villages alike to see women collecting water from distant places. Water scarcity is affecting 700 million people around the world. Chemicals emitted from factories, fertilizers and human sewage cause serious damage to the purity of water. Sanitation is poor in poor countries, particularly in Asia.
