Oscar Fever And The Inglourious Basterds

Back home when Inglourious Basterds was released,I watched it based on some critiques. It was then I came to know about Quentin Tarantino who has many critically acclaimed films to his credit, like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs etc., I should say I loved the film, but I am not the right man to comment on it. The film had many elements beyond my understanding and the characters spoke multiple languages. I had great difficulty in catching Brad Pitt's accent. Little did I know that the film would be nominated for eight Oscars. I was surprised that the movie was laden with dialogues on many scenes and had shades of a stage play. However, whenever the occasion demanded, the director was up to his reputation. There were many well-executed sequences and everyone had chipped in with good performances. The stand out performer was Christoph Waltz, who has now been nominated for the Oscars for his powerful role. I particularly enjoyed a sequence where he asks a woman to show her footwear as part of an investigation.I expect him to walk away with the Oscar for his role. If there were no Avatar, one could expect multiple Oscars for this film. I am at least happy that the film I loved has been nominated for so many Oscars. Let us wait and watch till March 7.

Hmm... well... Only Christoph Waltz has won the award for the best supporting actor. Otherwise,The Inglourious Basterds has missed out.
