Gautam's Vaaranam Aayiram had mixed response from the audience and critics. I felt the movie was very ordinary. However,Gautam kept on saying the movie was close to his heart. He was right,because the movie was a tribute to his father. Having seen a slight slide,Gautam was under pressure to hit back. He has and how. Almost every critic has only nice words about Gautam's latest venture Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. He has proved he is here to stay. Gautam must have felt proud to see veteran K Balachandar saying he is one of the finest film makers in Tamil.
