Kamal Hasan has been in the Tamil cinema industry for 50 years.He set his foot as a choreographer,assisted veteran film maker K Balachandar and then became an actor upon K Balachandar's advice. Initially he struggled to establish his name and after years of struggle, he made a mark for himself. After tasting commercial success,Hasan started experimenting and did a variety of roles. Hasan is known for his versatile skill. He acts,he can dance,write poems and film scripts. He has directed a few films, Virumandi being his magnum opus. Hasan married twice and divorced as many times. He is currently living with Gauthami, his once on-screen pair. He has two daughters from his second wife,Sarika. One of them is already an actor, singer and composer. At 55, Kamal Hasan is still going strong with regular hits. He has appealed a layman as much as the connoisseurs.In a long career,he has done mostly Tamil films and a few in Hindi,Malayalam,Telugu and Kannada. He donned ten roles in Dasavatharam and drew harsh criticism from serious cinema lovers. He has won the coveted national awards for the best actor thrice in his career. He was honored with Pamashree by the Indian Government.
