There is a lot of discussion about languages down here.A minority but dominant community in India says Sanskrit is the language of the God. Well, who saw God speaking Sanskrit? To me, however, English is the language of God. Because, according to me, only a language which feeds people can be the language of God. English feeds millions of people around the world. Forget about native speakers, it has brought cheers to many peoples' lives in the third world countries, as well. In India, English has been taught in schools since the arrival of the British Empire. There have been huge debates about the medium of instruction and English's role in our society. However, people took great interest in helping their children learn the language. I am not advocating English being used as the medium of instruction here. It should be welcomed as a second language. Hundreds of youngsters from India have been placed in the software industry, a good fraction of them in the United States. And many other are employed in BPOs. What would have happened if we didn't learn English? Unthinkable! Let us grab the language with both the hands and try to master it. Remember, the language is spoken all over the world.
