Chennai

Chennai is a coastal city in south India and is the capital of Tamilnadu. It is one of the major metropolitan cities in India. Chennai has a population of over 8 million with the majority of its people speaking Tamil-one of the oldest languages in the world. It is cosmopolitan in structure,with settlers from North India and the neighboring states.Apart from Tamil, a fraction of the population speaks Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. Chennai is known for its hot climate with temperature touching 100 degree F during summer consistently.The humidity is another factor which makes life tougher. The winter season is very short. Compared to other major cities in India like Mumbai, Bangalore etc., Chennai is a clean city and it is less polluted too. The roads are clean and well-laid. The current government has built a few over-bridges in an attempt to solve traffic problems. Chennai is also the capital of Tamil cinema- a big industry which has produced stalwarts like MGR,Shivaji Ganesan,Kamal Haasan, Ilaiyaraja and A R Rahman. Chennai boasts of  Marina-the second largest beach in the world.In my opinion, the people of Chennai are not warm.Chennai has a long tradition of music and dance. It is also known as a conservative city.
