Social Consciousness

I couldn't approve people's habit of spitting on roads, urinating in public, use streets like dust bins. And then people wasting electricity. I have seen many wasting electricity by keeping electrical appliances like lights, bulbs and fans on,when they are not required.Most of we Indians have this habit. And we point out this to them, the reply would be " I am paying the bill for my power consumption and I have every right to waste it." This is the standard reply I get even from the educated. Come on, why don't they think that there is a huge shortage of power and states are struggling to meet the energy demands? There is another important thing to be considered. Fifty percent of the power generated goes as waste and we get only the remaining 50% for use. The wastage rate is one among the worst in the world. I believe no one has the right to waste. Let it be electricity, water or even a green chilli,there is a lot of manpower involved and it takes days to complete the production.It is our duty to conserve our resources. Water,electricity and other resources are money. Would we like to waste our money?

Right To Information Act

As ordinary citizens, we often see the affluent and the politically connected getting things done much faster than we could. Be it getting a passport,driving licence or even groceries at ration shops,a few privileged people are favored leaving us waiting for months. We are kept in the dark about the procedure in processing the applications. And there was no legal way to know the things behind the screen. Social activists put in a lot of effort to put an end to this practice. After debates and discussions, the Indian Government finally came up with the Right to Information Act, or simply the RTI. With RTI, you can get information of how your application is processed and find out the list of all applications made. Say for example, you applied for a driving license and you are waiting for longer than you thought. And you think that there is some favor made to a few. You can pay Rs.150 and make an application to the officer concerned and find out how the whole process was made. You will be very sure that no favor has been extended. The RTI lessens the incidence of bribery and favoritism. It is a landmark act.

Buying A Computer

Let me share something about buying a computer. In today's world owning a computer-a desktop or a laptop-is a must. A computer will be quite useful to you and  all your family members. While it is helpful to you to connect and communicate with your friends, it will help your kids in their studies. When computers were invented, the inventer couldn't have imagined or foreseen its many uses. A computer is both for pleasure and purpose. You can browse millions of pages on the Internet for news,view images and videos and organize your work. Buying a branded computer may be quite expensive. There are many popular computer vendors in the business. Dell,Compaq and IBM to name a few. It is a better option to buy an assembled computer.You can buy the best of each peripherals and devices like the processer, motherboard, printer,keyboard or scanner and you can buy them at cheaper rates. However, branded computers give an option of getting your computers serviced.Nowadays flat, wide screen displays are becoming very popular. It makes movie watching a more pleasurable experience. You have to buy a good quality speaker and if possible a webcam too. A printer or scanner may be optional.

My Tryst With C++

I completed my graduation in Computer Science and Engineering. During the first semester in college, we learned both C and C++ and Pascal too. Out these,C++ caught my attention. I was fascinated by the very structure of the language. It was different from both C and Pascal. The main difference was that it was an Object Oriented Language. C and Pascal were the traditional structured language. As the subject was very interesting,I spent hours to learn C++ and even taught my friends.Let me tell you something about it and clarify why it is different from other traditional programming languages. C++ is composed of classes and their instances named objects. Every real world thing is seen as a class in C++. A class is nothing but a unit containing the data and the method which would operate on the data. Since, both the data and methods are capsuled in a unit, it is absolutely safe from outside access. This is the main difference between C++ and C (or Pascal). In C, a data is not safe as any method or function can access it whenever it needs it. We cannot do anything only with class as a memory space is reserved only when a class is intantiated to produce an object.

Blogging For Profit

For long I had been hearing that online jobs were not possible. Nine out of ten persons I met would say that,"it is just fraud". Then I met this gentleman, my ex-colleague Rajeev who told me he was blogging and making money. That was the first occasion when I heard saying that he was making money online. Unfortunately, both of us quit the jobs very soon. I tried my hand at another job and quit it eight months later. I was struggling for a living. I got to meet Rajeev again. I sought his help to do an online job. It was then I came to know about paid posts. I created a blog, got google's page rank soon and submitted my blog to various sites for approval. These sites act as a link between advertisers and us bloggers.We have to write a review for the product of the advertisers. We have to put our regular original posts on our blog along with the paid posts. The websites make the payment on a monthly basis. There are a few sites on the Internet which pay for posts.I had some initial hiccups.Now, my job has gained some momentum. I am confident that I will be able to do this job successfully.
